THE
BENEFITS
OF BOXING

  • Physical benefits: improves coordination, increases strength, sharpens reflexes, and keeps kids active.

  • Mental benefits: builds confidence, relieves stress, boosts self-esteem, teaches discipline and self-control.

  • A great form of self-defense.

  • A way for students to channel their aggression into something productive.

  • It’s a sport you can practice indoor, outdoor, and all year round. Making it flexible and more accessible to students.

  • A good alternative sport for kids who have tried mainstream sports like soccer and basketball but haven’t found their thing.

Boxing offers something for all students. Kids who don’t have any fitness experience can develop basic skills like coordination and stamina. While kids who are already active can challenge themselves and start at a high-intensity. The individuality of the sport allows students to practice at their own pace.

FAQs

  • The classes are free. We do ask parents to purchase their own equipment if they have the means but we can provide that if needed. Equipment includes things like hand wraps and boxing gloves.

  • Boxing comes with risks. We are fully aware of that and take student safety very seriously. Parents give us an incredible amount of trust. We don’t take that responsibility lightly, which is why we take as many safety precautions as possible while still keeping it enjoyable for our students.

We understand the risks but we also know the benefits boxing can bring. Ultimately, we think the benefits outweigh the risks. Students in our community are at constant risk of drugs, violence, or even health complications. An activity like boxing keeps them active and out of trouble.

If you want to learn more about the safety measures we take, please send us an email for more information: bigthingsboxing@gmail.com

  • We find that our classes let students release any aggression they have built up. Some kids deal with issues at school and at home, which can lead to stress. Our students tell us that boxing helps them relieve that stress.

We also talk to our students and explain the responsibility that comes with learning a sport like boxing. You don’t use it for harm or to take advantage of people. Along with teaching them to defend themselves, we’re also teaching them discipline and self-control.

  • No, we have students come from all over the area. However, we have found that students that live within walking distance or have dependable transportation are able to attend class more frequently.

  • Girls in grades 4-12 and boys in grades 6-12.

  • No, but there are plenty of great boxing gyms in the area that do. We’re friends with a lot of them. Contact us and we can help you find a gym that’s right for you: bigthingsboxing@gmail.com
